Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.
Players can recycle six items at one time to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to boost the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways through the use of upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to increase their stats.
Upgradable items can be found throughout the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. The most common method of upgrading gear is through the use of upgrade components, which are the items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments can be placed on any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The number of upgrade components needed for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item increases. However, you can reduce the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded using an upgrade to a prefix like an insignia or rune, and a lot of them are upgraded by an upgrade suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item and add an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also increase the retention of messages by creating an experience of familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain range. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the exact amount at the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore, it shouldn't be considered a loss.
Adding a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who take a lot of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, such as mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and typically better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its gauge of level. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If item upgrading rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it is lower, the weapon remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
Rerolling is an excellent option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be decreased by the number of that it took to reroll it to the final ilvl. This reduction effect is most effective on Diadems and rings that don't have other options for raising ilvls.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it with money or a food item that would allow players to modify their build without a lot of time and effort. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to incorporate at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add the ability for players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading any stat. The second option is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which can increase the damage or healing of the stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
It is important to remember that upgrades are random. In most cases, a better roll will come from the glyphs, but there are also opportunities for greater or special rolls. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a special item type, then it's likely to getting an additional level.

Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on the base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky, your upgraded item will be at the maximum level of its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will provide a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level however. Generally speaking, the upgrade effect is increased by a number of +3.
Based on the item's base level and upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change as well. For example the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an exceptional item will be able to get the Enhanced Defense of the new base type of item.
